Consider this my official Welcome Back To The Big Butt Ball!
In the last year and a half, I have been There And Back Again, as our beloved friend, Bilbo Baggins, said in “The Hobbit”. Oh, maybe I didn’t see any orcs or big shiny dragons on my own journey, but there have been some pretty epic adventures going on recently. Some of it was actually really tough. It left me feeling disoriented and spinning.
Don’t we all get pulled away from things that matter to us from time to time? That has been my time recently, distracted by important family matters for so long. How refreshing it feels to have words finally return to me, so I can write again! I hope I will have new and fresh ideas to share with you all, that might even help somebody else to get pulled back to a place they want to be.
While I was on my odyssey of personal growth and (often sad) experiences, it helped me to remember a few things:
If you need to let yourself get pulled off-track, every once in awhile, that is okay.
Let yourself go. Let yourself take a break. Just rest a little.
As long as you keep the destination somewhere on the horizon, you will find your way back when the time is right.
Your balance will return.
You don’t have to be in control all the time.
Life is bigger than you are. That is okay. You can choose to embrace it, and go with it.
These are important points to remember about labor and birth, as well. I have even found they help me out as a parent! For example, it’s okay if the kids get a less-than-healthy dinner at times. It’s really nobody’s loss if the floor looks like a tornado passed through the house but somehow left the walls intact. And it’s okay to let your labor, and your life, take you over when the time comes. They really can be bigger than you, and can leave you spinning like a leaf; but they can’t cover your light completely. Just go with it, and remember that, whatever life throws at you…
You will find your way back when the time is right.
Just hold on, and let yourself spin.
Your balance will return.
